About

Mel Romero.

The person behind the programming.

Founder of ENIGMEL. NASM Certified Personal Trainer and NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist. Dance instructor, bilingual in English and Spanish.

"I was the kid juggling sports and homework alone. Now I make sure others get the direction I didn't."

Why I started this

I was one of these kids.

Then I learned what a body is worth.

I grew up an athlete, juggling sports and homework alone. At sixteen I was diagnosed with cancer. I beat it, and I learned exactly what a body is worth.

My community was never taught any of this. Immigrant families. Low-income families. The information never reached us, and chronic illness filled the gap.

So I work where it counts most. With older adults, where decades of nobody-ever-told-me show up in balance and strength, and where a good amount of it is recoverable. With young adults, where habits set for life.

That is ENIGMEL. Movement first, in a room where people are known.

Credentials

What they mean in the room.

NASM Certified Personal Trainer

The foundation.

How to assess a body, program safely for it, and progress it. It's what lets one instructor design a strength, balance, or conditioning session for a 26-year-old and an 86-year-old in the same hour without either being under-served or put at risk.

NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist

The differentiator.

Corrective exercise is the discipline of identifying movement dysfunction — where a body compensates, where it's unstable — and programming to correct it. It maps directly onto balance, gait, and mobility. In senior living that is fall prevention delivered by someone actually trained in it.

Founder-designed, instructor-delivered

You always know who is accountable.

Every ENIGMEL program is designed by Mel Romero and delivered by instructors we select, train on the ENIGMEL session structure, and supervise — sometimes including Mel herself. That is how the standard stays the same whoever is teaching that day, and how a program grows without thinning out. Instruction is available in English and Spanish.

Why this company exists

I built ENIGMEL to put movement and connection

within reach of the communities that get overlooked.

It started in a Prince George's County community school, giving students the direction and whole-person support I never had. It runs now in senior living communities, residential buildings, and schools — the same idea in different rooms.

If you're responsible for a room full of people who would be healthier and more connected with someone reliable showing up every week, I'd like to meet them.
